Supply Chain & Retail

Supply Chain Services provides both pre-wholesale and wholesale distribution of pharmaceutical, healthcare and animal health products to pharmacies and hospital nationwide. The business supports a diverse customer base through the provision of strong service levels coupled with innovative commercial initiatives. In addition, the business provides services and supports that help independent community pharmacy to compete more effectively in an increasingly difficult environment and runs a network of Uniphar-owned pharmacies under the Life, Allcare, McCauleys and Hickeys symbol brands.

Pharma - On Demand

The On-Demand business is a specialist medical supply business that sources and distributes pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and consumable supplies to healthcare professionals in over 160 countries worldwide. We have offices in Ireland, UK, Europe, USA and New Zealand. The company's main divisions encompass everything from International Sales through Sales to NGO's and Charities, Clinical Trials Supply, Imported (Unlicensed Medicines), Sexual Health Supplies, and the storage and distribution of medical products and devices for third parties.

The role

We are currently looking to hire an enthusiastic, energetic, and ambitious Business Development Manager to join our International Sales team.

Exploring new business opportunities in untapped markets, while driving growth in existing developed regions within the Trading Team for sales globally, with the desire to grow to be the best in market, and go-to exporter for International clients.

The role will require strategic thinking, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, target driven and a strong desire to prospect and grow new business. The successful candidate will need to be a motivated, target driven individual able to work independently as well as working closely with the International Sales team and Internal supporting business units to deliver end to end customer service.

Key Outcomes and Responsibilities

  • Identifying new business opportunities internationally by prospecting new customers and following up on leads.
  • Working as part of a growing international sales team to drive growth & implement the long-term trading/selling strategy representing Durbin UK.
  • Work towards KPI's and Objectives to maximise value within Key Markets and build strategic growth within the Trading team.
  • Develop new business leads by meeting potential clients to understand their needs and providing relevant solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the business, in particular Quality, Finance and Operations.
  • Identify new business opportunities to grow the client base to help drive growth.
  • Experience in Pharmaceuticals in different markets - MENA, LATAC and Africa

Key Skills & Experiences

  • Proven track record in achieving targets, in a wholesale environment.
  • Solid understanding of the Pharmaceutical Industry locally & globally.
  • Extensive experience in prospecting new business.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with others.
  • Commercial awareness
  • Strong work ethic, resilient and target driven.
  • Equally comfortable working alone or as part of a team.
  • Flexible, innovative approach to work.
  • Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate at all business levels, including customer/supplier and at conferences.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to work to targets.
  • Good time management and planning skills.
  • Excellent Excel and Powerpoint skills
  • Knowledge of SAP, BI and Across CRM systems an advantage.

This role will be based in our office in Hayes where a flexible hybrid working model is also available. It's important to achieve the right balance between face-to-face interactions with virtual working over the long term. Moreover, there will be flexibility required to interact with colleagues (i.e., it's not a '9 to 5' type of job).
