My client a well-known college is seeking an experienced maintenance/repairs bias Premises Assistant / Caretaker to help with the day to day running of the site.
They are seeking someone to work as part of a team that can keep on top of and maintain basic repairs, this would be including the likes of unblocking sinks, replace taps, change light bulbs, repair fixtures and fittings and conduct daily maintenance checks around the building / grounds but also to help set up rooms for meetings, assembly's, open days, take in deliveries and any other such related duties as needed.
Working as part of a team reporting to the Site Manager you would be the first point of contact for a variety of premises requirements, providing building users with an excellent service.
In summary you would be responsible for undertaking plumbing/fabric planned preventative and reactive maintenance work services throughout designated buildings, in additional to general caretaking activities, ensuring adherence to operational, regulatory, and contractual compliance.
In addition, the postholder shall undertake any planned minor installation works or other such project works as required.
The postholder will have the responsibility for the operational performance and safety of the building at all times and will have responsibility for liaising with specialist sub-contractors and other building dedicated engineers to maintain high quality service delivery.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To carry out minor repairs and maintenance both internally and externally
Maintain equipment, ensuring that professional standards of competence are complied with and are in accordance with the qualifications gained.
To clean light fittings and to replace where necessary minor parts such as tubes, bulbs, fuses starters and diffusers, in accordance with safe working practises.
To arrange to clear blockages, remove foreign matters from sinks, toilets, drains and clean up spillages.
To ensure that gullies, drains etc are kept free from debris.
Each month, check then lubricate/adjust door hinges/closures.
Carry out regular inspections of the roof and balcony areas, removing any rubbish and foliage, applying weed killer at least twice a year.
To undertake handyman's duties as directed by Management as required
